(vamos viajar)

bem vindo a Portugal!

We want this trip to be as comfortable and affordable as possible for everyone. We’ve put together a how-to for getting to Portugal as seamlessly as possible.

Passports

If you are traveling from the US, you must have a passport that will be valid for 3 months beyond the date of departure. We recommend that you take a look at your passport as soon as possible and submit the paperwork for renewal (if needed) as soon as you can since this process is taking longer than normal.

Travel

Lisbon Airport (LIS) is closest to our “hub” hotel, making it a very easy to get to/from the airport.

If you choose to explore the rest of the country before / after the wedding, you may also choose to fly through airports in Porto (Northern Portugal) or Faro (down south in the Algarve region).

General Transportation

Rental cars are not needed if you plan to stay in Lisbon during this trip. Public transportation and ride sharing is available and affordable. Hosted transportation will be provided for any wedding events outside of the City.

Getting There

From Lisbon Airport

UBER

Pro Tip: in order to request an Uber or taxi on your cell phone, you will need an international data plan to avoid fees. If your phone is capable, you can purchase prepaid SIM cards, either ahead of time or in Portugal. An international SIM card will generate a new, local number for your phone, allowing you to text, call, and use data over a local network. A wireless carrier location to purchase a SIM card is typically available at the airport.

METRO

Another option would be to utilize the metro system, which is very cheap (~€2) and easy to navigate, with just four lines (yellow, blue, red and green). Signs are in English and every attendant at the metro stations speak English. The airport in fact has a metro station (Aeropuerto station) on the red line. Take the Aeropuerto stop right outside Arrivals to either Saldanha or Sao Sebastiao (~20mins), which has all the connections to get anywhere in central Lisbon.

WEDDING WEEKEND TRANSPORTATION

Transportation will be provided to and from each event. Please visit the main page for more details!

Covid-19

As of October 2021, Portugal is among the most highly vaccinated countries in the world.

The health and safety of our guests is our top priority. We lovingly ask that all guests are fully vaccinated by the wedding weekend. If for any reason you won’t be vaccinated by then, please let us know as soon as possible.
